Summit Instrument
Scales SEC without limits
EV isolation and concentration for high-throughput labs. The Summit is a fully autonomous, plate-based platform that isolates EVs from up to 48 samples in parallel, from column preparation to recovery, with no user intervention.
- Process 4–48 samples per run, fully automated
- Plate-based SEC or standard Apex columns
- On-deck plate-based ultrafiltration to concentrate fractions
- Built for biobanks, CROs and 1,000+ sample studies

How it works
Load, press run, walk away
The Summit runs the entire plate-based SEC workflow, column preparation, isolation and recovery, without intervention. A typical isolation takes 1–3 hours.
Load samples
Load 4 to 48 samples onto the deck and choose your isolation parameters, fractions, volumes and concentration.
Press run
The Summit prepares the SEC plate and isolates every sample autonomously, with no user intervention.
Collect
Recover isolated EVs in a deep-well plate or low-bind tubes, optionally concentrated on-deck and ready for analysis.
Flexible SEC formats
Run Apex plates or columns
Use plate-based SEC for maximum throughput, or run the same Apex columns you validated on the Ascent, both deliver equivalent, reproducible separation.
24-well SEC plates
Available in Apex 4B and 6B. Each well is an individual SEC column with the same resin and bed volume as an Apex column: equivalent performance, scaled across the plate.
Apex columns
Run Apex MM, 4B and 6B columns directly on the Summit via the column adapter: ideal when you are running a few samples.
Reproducible across 48 samples
Plates match columns
Integrated concentration
Concentrate EVs on-deck with Altitude plates
Collect SEC fractions directly into Altitude ultrafiltration plates during the run. On-deck ultrafiltration concentrates EVs in a 24-well format: balancing high recovery with volume reduction, all without a separate spin-down step.
- Direct collection of fractions into UF plates during the run
- Reduce volume down to ~100 µL for concentrated isolates

~10X concentration

Engineered for scalable, reproducible studies
Fully autonomous
Runs the entire workflow, column preparation through EV recovery, without user intervention.
Plate-based SEC
A 24-well plate format where each resin-packed well functions as an individual SEC column.
Apex-equivalent separation
The SEC plate uses the same resin and bed volume as Apex columns, so separation matches the column format.
On-deck concentration
Altitude ultrafiltration plates concentrate fractions on the instrument: up to ~10X, no separate spin-down step.
Built for scale
Ideal for biomarker discovery and validation, including clinical studies for formulation development, across large cohorts, biobanks and CROs, up to 1,000+ samples.
Configurable runs
Collect 1–3 fractions and set fraction volumes from 0.5 to 2.0 mL to maximize EV yield.

Summit or Ascent?
The Summit is built for large cohorts and integrated concentration. For flexible, column-based prep at 1–8 samples, the Ascent is the right fit.
| Summit | Ascent | |
|---|---|---|
| Best for | Large cohorts & standardized workflows | Flexible sample prep |
| Throughput focus | High | Moderate |
| SEC format | Plates or columns | Columns |
| Sample capacity | 4–48 | 1–8 |
| Automation level | Fully automated | Manual sample loading |
| Fraction collection | 1–3 per sample | 1–12 per sample |
| Concentration | Integrated capability | Performed externally |
| Footprint | Larger, built for scale | Compact benchtop |
One workflow
From discovery to clinical scale
Start on the Ascent for flexible 1–8 sample runs, scale to the Summit for 48-sample studies, and quantify every fraction with the Atlas EV ELISA: one reproducible, end-to-end workflow.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How many samples can the Summit process?
The Summit processes 4 to 48 samples per run, fully automated. Just load your samples, choose your parameters, and press run.
Can I use Apex columns, or only plates?
Both. Run 24-well Apex SEC plates (4B and 6B) for throughput, or run Apex MM, 4B and 6B columns via the column adapter. The plate uses the same resin and bed volume as the columns, so separation is equivalent.
How long does a run take?
A typical isolation takes 1–3 hours. The exact time depends on how many samples you run, the biofluid type, and whether you concentrate the fractions.
How many fractions does it collect?
It collects 1–3 fractions when processing up to 24 samples, and 1 fraction per sample at 48 samples. Fraction volume is configurable from 0.5 to 2.0 mL.
Can it concentrate my samples?
Yes. SEC fractions are collected directly into Altitude ultrafiltration plates during the run, concentrating EVs up to ~10X (down to ~100 µL) with 75–90% recovery: no separate spin-down step.
Can I transfer a protocol from the Ascent?
Yes. Parameters transfer directly, and because the SEC plate uses the same resin and bed volume as Apex columns, the elution profile matches what you validated on the Ascent.
